What happens to flights that don’t follow the restrictions?
At Toronto Pearson, there is a dedicated team – the Enforcement Office – that monitors every flight for compliance with the noise abatement procedures and the Night Flight Restriction Program.
If the Enforcement Office identifies a potential violation, the case is forwarded to Transport Canada for further action. Transport Canada publishes its aviation corporate and non-corporate offenders lists on its website.
The airport reports regularly on night flight statistics as well as the investigations completed by the Enforcement Office.
