What is being done about noise?
All players in the industry – including the airport, airlines and NAV CANADA – share the responsibility of managing aircraft noise and working with the community to continually improve. Examples of this are Toronto Pearson’s 2018 – 2022 Noise Management Action Plan and NAV CANADA’s response to the Independent Toronto Airspace Noise Review.
The airport also has a ground lease with Transport Canada with the mandate to develop, manage and operate Toronto Pearson efficiently and effectively. Part of that ground lease requires a Noise Management Program that follows a balanced approach to mitigate aircraft noise.
The Noise Management Program includes noise operating restrictions, the Night Flight Restriction Program, noise abatement procedures, and the Noise Management Office, all of which are in place to help manage noise.
